Charter Yacht Ownership
There are many people who love the idea of yacht ownership but are not in a position to enjoy it as much as they'd like or who are put off by the thought of operating and maintaining it. Many companies world wide offer yacht ownership schemes where the owner gets a modest monthly return on investment, several owner sailing weeks, and all maintenance and berthing covered by the charter company, typically over a 5 year period. At the end of the period the investor usually has a lump sum to pay and keeps the yacht.
Sadly, charter companies such as The Moorings, Dream Yacht Charters, Horizon Yacht Charters etc may make promises to maintain the yacht to a high standard but they only carry out breakdown maintenance rather than routine preventive maintenance. This means that woodwork, furnishings and equipment are thrashed to within an inch of their life before any necessary repair or replacement is carried out. Charter companies will rent the boat to anyone with minimum qualifications. Many charter guests do not look after the yacht as if it were there own. Subsequently, the material condition of the yacht after 5 years in charter is a lot less than if it were privately owned and cared for. Depending on the scheme, the investor walks away with no further payment and the charter company sells the yacht through a broker for considerable less than had it had been looked after.
We have worked in the yacht charter business for over 8 years and sadly seen how the yachts in charter schemes are neglected from a maintenance and boat husbandry point of view.
For 2024 we have decided to leave working for the the mainstream charter yacht industry and explore our own opportunities. We have produced a crewed yacht charter investment proposal which we believe ensures that for any investor the yacht would be maintained and looked after to a very high standard. The return on investment would be significantly higher than any current charter yacht company scheme and the resale value of the yacht at the end of the investment period would be the highest possible.

Crewed Yacht Charter Investment Opportunity
Lagoon 51’ Catamaran
Summary
Purchase price of the vessel (ex- tax) €1,496,165, $1,612,641, £1,280,926.
An annual revenue of €247,912 will lead to a redemption of 6 years.
A annual revenue of €475,912 will lead to a redemption of 3 years 2 months.
The calculation assumes 15 out of 20 available weeks booked in the Med and 15 out of 20 available weeks booked in the Caribbean. A higher number of bookings and rate variation for peak season weeks would obviously generate more revenue.
After a period of 6 years the vessel can be kept by the investor or it can be sold and would generate a clean revenue, the estimated retail value at the end of 6 years is €1,009,912, $1,088,420, £864,385.
Alternatively, the charter operation can be continued as long as the material condition of the vessel is of a high standard and there is a market.
The S&P 500 is a stock market index tracking the stock performance of 500 of the largest companies listed on stock exchanges in the United States. It is one of the most commonly followed equity indices. The historical S&P 500 stock market index average annualized returns have been 9.2%. Investing €1,496,165, $1,612,641, £1,280,926 in the stock market would yield the equivalent of €139,281, $148,362, £121,205 in interest in per year.
Investment and Revenue
This brief gives an outline calculation for the investment opportunity in a 2024 Lagoon 51’Catamaran to be operated as a charter vessel in both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, the revenue from potential charter operations and also the asset end value for the potential investor.
This calculation is based on the 4-cabin version, 3 rentable cabins with the 4th being used by the charter crew.
For several seasons now Mark and Tracey have provided an exceptional crewed yacht service working for ‘The Moorings’ crewed yacht charters in both Greece and the British Virgin Islands and the privately owned YOLO Yacht Charters in the Caribbean. An electronic version of their guest book is available to view which demonstrates their success.
Personal statement: ‘We believe the success of a crewed yacht lies in the material condition of the yacht itself, the service of the crew, first-class provisioning of food, local knowledge and comprehensive pre- holiday planning communication to manage the guest’s expectations of their holiday experience and their time on board’.

The calculation is divided into a dual-season operation:
Med-Season 1st of June- 31st October (20 weeks in total. Estimated 15 weeks of charter).

DAY 6
Palmižana, St. Clement
Palmižana ACI marina is situated on the north side of idyllic St Klement Island and from here it is possible to take a water taxi to Hvar Town. Due to it’s proximity to Hvar, the marina is very popular in the summer so arrive early to find a berth. Extensive footpaths that cover the island give the impression of botanical garden, making it easy to access the marina from the southern bays.
Vinogradišće is a popular choice for anchoring and boasts a number of good restaurants and a cocktail bar complete with tree houses to relax and enjoy the beautiful bay.

Mooring
Marina Palmižana is the only option for an overnight stay in this bay. It is also very busy in the summer, so reserving in advance is advisable.
Things to do
Walk over to Vinogradišće bay for a near-botanical gardens experience, where you can visit the best-known Croatian restaurants on the shores, or sip a cocktail in Laganini beach club. Most popular idea is to get a water taxi and hop to island Marinkovac for after-beach parties or to Hvar town for sightseeing and clubbing.
Facilities
Marina: electricity, water, showers and toilets, Wifi, Water taxi, small supermarket, restaurant and bar
DAY 7
Agana
The Mooring base at marina Agana is a part of small and reticent town Marina. Although the name of the town provides for some confusion in conversations, there is nothing simpler than Marina town’s layout. A peaceful waterfront is filled with simple sea-side restaurants and local bars, while the northern side of the bay is the marina itself. Every couple of weeks the town throws a feat for the guests, so you may hear its sounds in the weekend.

Mooring
Marina Agana is the only marina here, with Med-style mooring (lazy line), like all marinas in Croatia are using. Anchoring is free in the bay while approaching/leaving the base. Don’t forget to contact the base staff on VHF 08 to get assistance if necessary.
Things to do
While waiting for your boat to be ready for you, head to one of the 2 beaches right next to the marina, eat in one of the restaurants, or head into towns of Trogir or Split. The many attractions in Split include the famous Diocletian’s Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Aside from sightseeing with a tour guide, there is also the option to visit Game of Thrones filming locations, or simply explore the old town core inclusive restaurants and bars yourself. Closer to Agana is Trogir town- a fascinating place to visit, making you feel as though you have stepped into a time warp to a distant era in the past, also under UNESCO protection. The Roman ruins of Solin and the natural wonders of the Krka National Park are just a couple of the additional points of interest in the vicinity of Agana base.
