1. Visit Central Park
Explore the iconic Central Park, perfect for Picnics, strolls and people watching. We really enjoyed visiting the park, there is so much to see and it’s such a welcome relief from the craziness of the City. It’s hard to believe you are actually in the middle of Manhattan.
2. Brooklyn Bridge
A walk across this historic bridge gives you magnificent views of the skyline. Definitely make sure you have your camera at the ready!
There are vendors all across the bridge selling souvenirs, drinks and Ice-Creams. It’s really entertaining watching them peddle their wares as they all try to compete with the stalls around them. The people watching opportunities are endless !
Enjoy a free ride on the Staten Island Free ferry. You can grab the ferry from the Whitehall Terminal in lower Manhattan. The ferry is completely free and you do not need to buy a ticket, so beware of scammers who may try to sell you one. It gives you fantastic views of the Statue or Liberty and the New York Skyline. You may get stopped on the way to the ferry by private boat tour representatives who will try to convince you their private trips are better. Don’t let them dupe you the free ferry does the job perfectly!
3. Statue of Liberty via the Staten Island Ferry
Wander along the elevated park built on an old railway track. You will see stunning views of the city, public art installations and vibrant gardens. A must see stop for urban explorers!
4. High Line Adventure
Discover art, history and culture at some of NYC’s renowned museums during their free admission hours. Don’t miss the MoMA, the American Museum of Natural History and the Bronx Museum of the Arts! Check their websites to find out which day and time they offer free entry as it does vary depending on the time of year.
