Number One
Determine your Destinations…
Find information about any destinations that are already on your wish list. If you are planning to travel to more than one place, be sure to know the distance from one location to another.
Find out if there are any visa requirements if you are going to different countries.
If you are visiting National Parks or other large attractions, check the opening times, entrance fees and availability before you travel.

Number Two
Choose the right time…
For example, if you are looking to basque in the sun in the Caribbean, don’t book your trip in the rainy season !
Do your research before you book your flights and accommodation. Don’t be distracted by super cheap trips, they are often cheap because it’s low season and the weather may be far from ideal.
Number Three
Create a Travel Calendar …
When can you travel? How long can you be away from home or work?
Once you know your ideal dates and where you want to go, make a list of the cool things you want to do and check availability for your selected dates.
Number Four
Arrange Transportation & Accommodation
Decide how you want to get where you are going and where you are going to stay!
You can either book your entire trip before you leave home, or get to your first destination and then book your next transport and accommodation from there.
This is so easy to do these days and gives you so much freedom, but this method isn’t for everyone ! If you like to be more organised then pre-booking may be better for you.
Remember some places you visit may insist that you have transport pre-booked out of the country (USA for example) to prove that you are not planning to stay longer than you should, so bare this in mind if you decide to take a more flexible approach to your planning.
Number Five
Don’t make the Schedule too tight …
Things can often happen unexpectedly when travelling. Ensure that you allow extra time for each activity. Don’t try and cram too much in or your trip could end up being a stressful mess instead of being a fun experience.
